Ibanez AH-10 Burgundy Mod 1985 [SN C850368] [01/02]

$ 2557.41

Alan Holdsworth model made in 1985, modified to 2-ham specifications!

The body is Bauswood and features bold bento box style PU cavity routing. It is solidly coated with conductive paint. The neck is maple, 648mm scale, and the nut width is approximately 42mm in actual size. The fingerboard is ebony with jumbo frets #6100.
The AH-10 is usually a rear 1-hum version, but this one has been converted to a 2-hum version with an additional front PU. Both PUs have been replaced with Ibanez’s classic vintage-style Super58 PUs, and the covers have been removed and replaced with double adjustable polepieces. A mini switch has been added as a PU selector, and both PUs can be coil-tapped by pulling the 1Vol, 1Tone tone knob. Also, both control knobs have been replaced.

The body has wipe scratches, scuffs, line scratches, and dings. The right half of the pickguard is overall finely clouded with picking scratches. The body as a whole has small scratches and dents with line scratches, but no major noticeable damage. There is clear peeling on the back of the neck on the 4th, 5th, and 6th F bass string side, but there is little rattling. There are some scratches on the fingerboard surface that may have been caused by tools during maintenance, but they are only visible when exposed to light. The tremolo unit and the arm slot have some peeling of plating and minor deformation, but the arm itself can be inserted smoothly. There are no other noticeable signs of use on the hardware.

The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod can be adjusted to tighten or loosen. There are no string marks on the frets, and about 80% of the frets are left. Currently, the string height is adjusted at about 2.0mm on the 6th string (12F) and about 1.5mm on the 1st string (12F).

Overall, there are no major damages that stand out, although there are some additional PUs and replacements. I am sure he wanted a 2-ham spec AH-20. It is not a collectible item at present, but let’s play it as hard as we can!
