Gibson Blueshawk Limited Edition Chicago Blue with Maestro Vibrato
A note about shipping: I do not have a scale of sufficient capacity at the moment so I am listing a (hopefully)-very-inflated-but-REFUNDABLE shipping charge. (USPS recently asked me for $275 to ship a ukulele domestically, ffs!) I do not price-gouge on shipping, and if the overcharge for shipping is $5.00 or more, I will refund the overcharge. But if it’s $4.99 or less, I’m gonna consider it a “windfall profit” and use it to start a “Gonna-Buy-A-House” Fund.
: )
I might not be able to ship before 02 or 03 Jan, sorry.
NOTE: The case shown in the pictures is NOT included in the sale! Inclusion would certainly inflate the shipping cost incredibly. If you want, we can discuss it but it would be a separate deal, and it would have to wait until I got a scale capable of accurately weighing it, and could reasonably estimate what the cost of shipping will be. I simply haven’t got the stomach to take new pictures…
Okay, so here’s what’s what:
This is a Gibson Limited Edition Chicago Blue Blueshawk with Maestro Vibrato. Note that the case in the pictures is NOT included in the sale! (On Archive.com look up www_blueshawk_info ).
According to the two guitar-dater sites, this was made on 12 Jan 2001. (Guitardaterproject_org and zinginstruments_com.)
Note that “Limited Edition” is printed on the back of the headstock, as shown in one of the pictures.
It is not in mint condition! It’s gonna have the kind of wear on it that you’d find on any guitar that’s not a closet-queen! But it’s really in pretty good condition. (And if Reverb’s software downsizes my pictures, then I am happy to send you the original full-res pictures if you’d like.) There are a few noticeable imperfections which are detailed and highlighted in the pictures, as is some belt-buckle rash on the small rectangular plastic access plate on the back. There are some small dents on the back of the neck which proved impossible for me to photograph.
There’s a small imperfection on the top edge of the headstock, alongside the Gibson logo, which I couldn’t capture.
I will add that the guitar looks to me to be in much, much better shape than is shown by my overly-high-resolution and too-brightly-illuminated pictures. But you will judge for yourself.
Remember! Nothing looks good in very tight close-ups under a very bright, very harsh camera flash.
There is minimal fretwear but, again, you can judge for yourself.
By the way, before I forget to mention it, the case is NOT included in this sale.
The Maestro Vibrato option is, if not rare, then very uncommon. There is some wear to the finish of the Vibrato, especially the handle, as shown in the pictures; this is odd because, judging by the fretwear, the guitar has clearly not been played enough to cause it.
Note that the pickups, while looking like P90 soapbars, are NOT P90 soapbars, no matter how many people erroneously think that they are. These are in fact Blues-90 pickups, which are heavily-modified P90s. Gibson never put these pickups on another guitar, as far as I know, and even when they reissued the Blueshawk via Epiphone, they put “standard” pickups on them. I think that the stock Blues-90s sound really good; if I didn’t have two other Blueshawks, I’d keep this one.
As always: if it’s not in the pictures, then it’s not in the sale. Whereas the case, although in the pictures, is not part of the sale!
I am happy to answer any questions! (I know that your first question is “Is the case included in the sale?” and the answer is, “No, sorry, the case is not included in the sale, sorry again.”
$1650 & $100 shipping (with shipping overcharge to be refunded if the overcharge is $5.00 or more).
A note about shipping: (moved to the top of the page.)
Thanks for looking!
Stay safe!
PS The case shown in the pictures is NOT included in the sale!
