I present to you a sleek and well-maintained Yamaha, manufactured in Japan during the early 1980s. This is one of the first models featuring a headstock shaped like an “open book.” Later, this design was changed because these Japanese masterpieces were too similar to the originals and often were better made and sounded better 🙂.
The color is quite rare as it’s neither tobacco burst nor 3-tone sunburst, but rather something akin to a barrel of dark cognac 🙂.
The body of this guitar is made from Japanese mahogany (agathis), with a maple top, and the neck is typical mahogany with a rosewood fretboard. The hardware on these Yamahas is really of excellent quality, in my opinion one of the best when it comes to Japanese guitars. The bridge and tailpiece are heavy and truly solid. The tuning keys move securely and stably, and those vintage cream knobs are a nice touch!
The neck, like in practically all Japanese guitars, is almost racing – slim and comfortable. The pickups are classic PAF construction, connected to the electronics in the traditional setup: 2x volume, 2x tone, and a three-way pickup selector.
Despite the passing decades, this guitar is excellently maintained, and everything functions as it should. We’ve replaced the frets with new ones, ensuring peace for years to come. There are only minor signs of normal use, and after our guitar spa, it looks fresh and plays smoothly and crisply!
I recommend it!
