Tokai / KLS180 SN

We are pleased to announce the arrival of a special model ordered by us.

We brought our own “Burst” (vintage Les Paul) to Tokai Gakki Onchi factory and measured it,

The price was kept low while making major changes to the specifications.

The neck has a 3.8 degree angle!

Compared to the regular model, the tension of the strings has been loosened to improve the sustain.

Change in body shape

The top arch, which can be called the “face” of Les Paul, as well as the pickup positions, which are the key to the sound, have been changed. Following the original Les Paul, the rear pickup has been moved to the bridge side from the conventional LS and LC pickups to create a contrast in sound with the front pickup.

Adoption of the 1960 “Burst” Slim Neck (Slim Neck models only)

The “SN” in the model name stands for Slim Neck.

We brought our vintage 1960 Les Paul (late serial) to Tokai Gakki and measured the neck shape. The neck was tapered like the original.

High-precision neck joint processing

The body and neck are handcrafted by skilled craftsmen to maximize the bonding density between the body and the neck.

■Hide gluing

Hide glue (Nikawa) is used not only for the neck joint but also for the fingerboard adhesion. It is not as hard as tight bond and improves the vibration transmission of the wood dramatically.

■Handmade neck shaping and finishing

After the rough neck shape is formed by a router, final finishing is done by hand by a craftsman. Although some individual differences may occur, a comfortable neck feeling can be obtained.

■Coil tap mechanism is adopted!

By turning the volume knob PULL, you can coil-tap each pickup.

This allows you to tap the coils of each pickup by pulling the volume knob. This allows you to output not only the classic Les Paul sound, but also a single-coil sound similar to Stratocaster and Telecaster, making it suitable for a variety of genres.

The pickups are equipped with Tokai’s original pickups, which have an established reputation!

Two “PAF-Vintage MK2S” pickups are installed. The output is not high, so even when distorted, the sound has good separation, making it ideal for those who place importance on picking nuance! The sound is clear and clean, as you would expect from a Japanese product, but the so-called “tasty” points have been kept in check, so we believe that this model will satisfy a wide range of players.

We can confidently recommend this model.

Please experience the high cost performance “Tokai KLS” series.
