Steinberger GP-2S 1980’s w/Bartolini Pickups

$ 3100.80

A used Steinberger “GP-2S” has just arrived. It is likely from the 1980s. Steinberger is famous for its extremely compact guitars with graphite necks and bodies. However, this model features a graphite neck but a maple body. Instead of the well-known rectangular shape, this guitar has a futuristic triangular shape.

The pickups have been replaced with Bartolini pickups. Originally, it was supposed to be mounted with EMGs, so it’s likely they were swapped later. Despite the Bartolini pickups giving an impression of active electronics, the guitar uses a passive circuit.

One of the most notable features is its extremely compact size, despite having the same neck scale as Fender guitars. This results in remarkable sound and playability, making one wonder why everyone isn’t using this guitar.

Additionally, Steinberger’s unique “S-Trem” bridge and tuning gear unit allows for dynamic arming with minimal tuning instability and can be locked into place to function like a hardtail guitar with a single lever. However, please note that the whammy bar is missing.

This guitar is highly recommended for those who find transporting instruments increasingly challenging.

Condition: Professionally cleaned and set up with new strings (D’Addario).

No problem with the electric systems. Neck is straight and this guitar has no truss-rod. Remaining fret height is over 70 percent.

It shows signs of wear and tear, including scratches and dings.

Comes with a gig bag.
