Fender confirmed this to be a Special/Deluxe Series Tex-Mex Stratocaster. I have provided a photo of the conversation which includes model name and specifications.

OVERVIEW: This is a rare 1997 Fender Tex-Mex Strat with light weight poplar body, spaghetti logo, vintage tuners, bone nut and Special Designed Tex-Mex Trio pickups. The Fender Tex-Mex Special Deluxe Series Stratocaster was a very limited run with only 1 year of production from Fender’s *Special Deluxe Series* collection. Introduced in 1996 and discontinued 1997, the bodies and necks for the Tex-Mex Strat’s were said to be manufactured in Corona, California but sanded smooth and finished at the Ensenada plant. This model is the precursor to the Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex Stratocaster. For the Jimmy Vaughan model, only a few changes were made to the Tex-Mex Stratocaster, among them the transition from a modern “C” shaped neck to a “special shaped” (later modified to soft “V”) and the use of an alder body (instead of poplar) and a maple fretboard.

CONDITION: I judge the condition to be good to very good. In the spirit of full disclosure, the body and neck show signs of a well-played guitar. There are dings, pick marks and superficial scratches throughout. I made no attempt to improve or hide them. Please examine photos carefully before purchase. No structural damage was found during restoration. At the next string change, I recommend removing the low E saddle spring to allow more room for intonation. All other strings intonated well. NOTE: D’Addario strings require a slightly longer string length for proper intonation.

WORK PERFORMED: Frets had minor string divots so a fret job was performed (set, level, dress, mirror polish). 90-95% of fret material remains. Minimal end dressing was required. Switch and pots were cleaned and lubed. Additional work includes a full setup (truss rod, string height, intonation, pickup height), corrosion abatement, general cleanup and light polish. Note that imperial (SAE) tools are required for adjustment. Strung with new D’Addario EXL120 9-42 strings. All parts and electronics tested and fully functional.
