When you hear ‘master of music,’ you may have a slightly ostentatious image of a portrait hanging in a music room, but nowadays, various expressions are possible on various platforms, mainly SNS, and anyone can express themselves and send out their ideas without hesitation.

The new series of Momose Custom Craft Guitars, ‘Modern Virtuoso series,’ produced by the Asuka Factory in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, pays respect to the history of traditional electric guitars, while reviewing and updating the specifications of the details to develop electric guitars that fit the modern music scene where all guitarists can become virtuoso.

This is a valuable lineup produced by the skilled craftsmen of the Asuka Factory, who started production in 1977 and have steadily accumulated skills and experience while watching the times for over 40 years.

Straight-grained maple neck
The wood is cut with a straight grain, which is more resistant to warping than the necks of typical electric guitars. When cutting wood from a log, the yield is low and not much of this grain can be obtained, but when used for the neck, the grain is stronger against the tension of the strings, resulting in a strong neck with less neck movement such as forward and backward warping, which is common in electric guitars.

Pickups
The Classic Strat, which was created with the aim of creating a clean sound with a clear outline reminiscent of the 1950s Strat, is placed in the front and center, and the Clone ’59 model, which aims to reproduce the PAF, adds a modern flavor, slightly emphasizes the bass, and is adjusted to have a longer sustain, is placed in the rear.

GOTOH bridge
Equipped with a reliable two-point support tremolo unit made by GOTOH.

The combination of a precisely cut 18:1 gear and nylon bearings maintains smooth usability and accurate tuning for a long time. The height of the post of the pegs is different for each string, giving the appropriate tension to the nut. This mechanism eliminates the need for a string guide.
For example, when performing extreme arm movements, the strings that are wrapped around the string guide and peg post from the nut several times are a major factor in causing the tuning to go out of tune when returning from arm down. By using Hipshot’s locking pegs, the strings are almost completely wrapped around the peg post (about half a turn around the peg post) and do not get caught in the string guide. Frets

Oil-soaked high-density buffalo bone nut
In general, nuts and saddles are made of various materials such as bone, tusk, ivory, brass, plastic, and carbon fiber, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages, but Momose products have consistently used bone material.
