The AZ series is a new innovation from Ibanez Prestige.
Ibanez’s accumulated DNA of guitar making is breathed in every part of this series.
This model is the AZ2402 of the popular prestige series with the good quality that can only be achieved in Japan.
The thinly finished body contour is reminiscent of the flagship S model, and the original body shape with a large elbow contour contributes greatly to improved playability.
In addition, the body surface has a 3mm radius and the back has an 8mm radius, changing the radius angle on the front and back, providing an excellent fit when holding the guitar in either a seated or standing position.
Alder is used for the wood and finished in Pearl White Flat matte color.
The neck and fingerboard are made of maple with an estained finish.
The Estec treatment is a nitrogen heat treatment technique developed in Sendai, Japan, and is the first of its kind in the world to be used for guitars.
The treated wood has shape stability, durability against warping, water resistance, and resistance to temperature changes.
The neck thickness is 20.5mm at the 1st floor and 22.5mm at the 12th floor.
The neck width is 42mm at the nut, and 56.4mm and 57mm at the last fret of the 22F and 24F models, respectively, for easy gripping at the low frets and for classical-style playing with the thumb behind the neck at the high frets.
The finish has an oil finish with the texture of a played neck.
The frets are jumbo size stainless steel frets.
The brightness of tone, tonal extension, and sound rise are excellent.
The frets are harder than normal nickel-white frets and are resistant to wear.
The pickups are Seymour Duncan Hyperion pickups.
This pickup was created in collaboration with Seymour Duncan exclusively for the Ibanez AZ model.
The specifications and sound image are considered to be optimal for the AZ model.
This is a custom pickup with a low output to keep the cleanness of the original sound even when distorted, with a focus on the followability and reproducibility of the picking.
The total balance from treble to bass strings 1 to 6 has been pursued to achieve a good ride of effects. Alnico 5 magnets are used.
A mini-switch between the volume and tone knobs allows you to switch between a variety of sound variations.
When turned on, it switches to power tap mode.
This is a special wiring that allows one coil to be tapped and the low frequency range of the other coil to be utilized.
The result is a clear treble and a thicker, more clearly defined sound than can be obtained with normal tapping.
The bridge is a two-point floating synchro type bridge developed in collaboration with the long-established Japanese brand Gotoh and Ibanez.
The bridge features a hard-cut titanium saddle and steel inertia block to achieve both a solid and fat sound and a good sound on the rise of the note, as well as an extended treble range.
The narrow spacing design with a 10.5mm pitch between strings is designed for ease of picking across the strings, which is required by players who frequently use skipping and hybrid picking.
The pegs are equipped with Gotoh locking type with adjustable post height.
This facilitates string changes and improves tuning stability.
