Bought this Hamer Prototype a couple of months ago to replace one I had sold – but it never really grew on me. I don’t know, not all guitars feel the same and I and this Hamer just have no chemistry – so I’m letting it go.
This Hamer Phantom Prototype is a cool vintage shredder with some unique appointments. It has a Kahler locking tremolo bridge and a SSH pickup configuration. It plays great with low, comfortable action and the wide frets are in good shape with some pitting in the first few. This guitar has been completely refinished in a retro matte turquoise color. The previous owner informed us that there was also headstock crack repair done over 20 years ago. The neck is solid and there is no visible sign of the repair. The rest of the guitar aside from the finish is all original with pot codes dating to 1983. Overall condition is good with a few small chips and play wear. Truss rod has a lot of exposed threading, but is still functional. Comes with unoriginal Fender deluxe padded gig bag in excellent condition.
