2019 Gibson SG Standard – Dark Heritage Cherry – Maestro Vibrola

The SG Standard ‘61 Maestro Vibrola returns to the classic design that made it relevant, played, and loved — shaping sound across generations and genres of music. As the name implies, the Gibson SG Standard ’61 Maestro Vibrola adds vibrato capability to the SG Standard ’61. The Maestro Vibrola offers smooth vibrato effects and the classic styling of the Lyre engraving on the tailpiece cover. Standard features include a SlimTaper mahogany neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard. The mahogany body features a deeply sculpted body scarfing, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard, and a 22nd-fret neck joint. The nickel-plated hardware includes a classic-style Tune-O-Matic bridge and Keystone tuners in addition to the Maestro Vibrola Tailpiece. The pickups are 60s Burstbucker humbuckers for a classic voice with added power and top end. Controls feature audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors.

As one of the pioneering electric guitars in rock music the SG has killer sustain and blazing rock sound. It features the legendary Gibson SG build quality in a lightweight body and dual humbucking pickups.  The SG Standard is built with a mahogany body and neck in a double cutaway design. The mahogany neck features a long tenon 19th fret neck joint, and runs right into the body for great sustain with every note. It also has a 24.75″ scale length and rounded profile for a great feel. Medium jumbo frets are clean and don’t show any wear over the clean rosewood fretboard, the guitar is setup on 10s.

The 2019  Gibson SG Standard Dark Heritage Cherry weighs 7lbs and 14oz, with stock hardware and electronics. All the weight is in the body with the bright chrome hardware, no neck dive. The dark finish is amazing, looks like oxblood, completely different to the normal or nominal SG Heritage Cherry finish, like winning the color lottery.

Condition is 8.5/10 for light wear, a small amount of worming, lacquer sink. Very nice, lightweight, beautiful, better than player grade instrument, presents extremely well. Comes with original packing slip in its Gibson hard case.

Overall, in very good to excellent condition, showing play wear, light scratches and swirls in the nitro finish. Vertical marks in the nitro where one would strum, also on the pickguard. The guitar was used in studio, mostly for rhythm. There’s some rash and worming on the back, especially on the lower bout in front of the control cavity. Frets and fretboard are in great shape, show no or minimal wear. Neck binding is clean. A beautiful better-than player grade instrument in a rare color and configuration.
