Gibson SG All American I 1995 – 1997 – Ebony SG-X, SG-I, SG-1

$ 600.00

Up for sale is my Gibson SG-I.

I’ve owned this guitar for around 10 years.

I bought it off eBay and it came with an undisclosed neck crack that I discovered years later. (I had read somewhere that the striping of the finish on the headstock was an occasional finish issue, but had later come to learn it’s an indication of an impact.) It does not appear to be an actual break. And through my years of ownership it has not been an issue — no tuning stability issues or widening of the crack.

I became suspicious of the think paint on the back of the headstock and my guitar tech was able to locate the crack and sanded away the finish to assess it. I opted to forgo the expense of touching up the paint, and thats why it’s in the cosmetic state that it’s in today.

I swapped out the original pickup for a Seymour Duncan 59. This one doesn’t say Seymour Duncan on the top like most do, but had the standard SD backplate. There’s a factory installed mini switch for a coil split that is not hooked up since the 59 using the old style wiring.

All the hardware is original, with the exception of the Schaller style strap buttons (lock included). The body and neck are mahogany. Fretboard is rosewood and has 24 frets. Neck is medium thickness. Definitely not the baseball bat thickness I’ve seen on some other SG’s, but healthy. Thicker than my standard tele but not a drastic difference.

It sounds great. Plays great. I owned another one of them in the early 2000’s and brought this one after having a dream about my old one. I’m selling it now because I’m playing less and mostly stick to my tele. Not sure if it’s the scale length difference or just the different shapes or the strap buttons locations, but the difference in feel is more drastic for me now. I’m planning to purchase another tele.

Comes with a hard case.

I’ve listed it locally as well. I’d prefer not to ship it.

If you’re interested, make me an offer.  This is a difficult item to price.
