This is a lightweight, beautiful and incredibly hard to find Limited Run Benchmark Edition ’58 Figured Explorer. It is one of the best sounding instruments I have ever had. The figured Sunrise Teaburst finish is rare and collectible.
The craftsmen at Gibson Custom have included a figured maple top, cream binding, one piece rosewood fretboard, and incredible sounding under wound Custom Bucker pickups.
Benchmark Collection instruments were designed as a collaboration between Gibson Select Dealers and Gibson Custom Shop using the finest tone woods and electronics. Benchmark instruments are highly coveted by musicians and collectors. The ’58 Figured Explorer is a rare and highly sought after instrument from this collaboration.
This guitar is part of a very limited run of Benchmark instruments. I feel fortunate to have been able to get one. I purchased this beauty new and played it only to test upon arrival. I have stored it carefully in a humidity controlled environment. This is a rare and collectible instrument. I have spoken to several collectors and they say it’s an incredibly hard instrument to find and highly sought after by collectors and musicians.
