Based on an incredibly clean Les Paul Standard Bonamassa purchased at Norm’s Rare Guitars in California, this is Epiphone’s attempt to capture the beauty and magic of that extremely rare instrument.
The specifications are very close to a Les Paul Standard, including a mahogany slim taper neck with, an Indian laurel fretboard that is set into the body via the much coveted long tenon for added sustain. The body is mahogany and sporting an AA maple cap with flame veneer directly modeled after Bonamassa’s original. Epiphone’s take on the Burstbucker, called a Probucker, handles the output while the familiar controls are fitted with Malory tone caps and 1950’s style wiring. A hardshell “Lifton” case is printed with “Bonamassa Nerdville California” art and inside you will find a Certificate of Authenticity in a presentation binder with a hologram sticker along with an owners manual, strap and other ephemera that you can see in the photos.
The condition is truly excellent, appearing barely played with the plastic film still on the bridge pickup and hardly a mark anywhere on the guitar. The guitar plays as it should and the electronics are fully functional with noise free pots. We’ve given the guitar a full set-up in our shop and it’s ready to go straight out of the box.
