This ‘Commodore – Hollow body Jazz Guitar’ is a very rare ‘Prototype’ / ‘Dealer Piece’ crafted by the artisans at the Matsumoko factory in Japan , circa early 1980’s to demonstrate their very best luthiering skills

This instrument has the same dimensions as some of the most illustrious jazz guitars, but is slightly less deep, which makes it a more comfortable to play. Made with a laminated flamed curly maple top, and rosewood back/sides, this gives the guitar more volume acoustically and makes it feel more alive.

This example is crafted with a flame curly maple laminate top of exceptional intensity, and a beautiful rosewood back, with a fine detailed centre inlay. This highly quality crafted instrument, with a gentle profile neck that plays effortlessly has been rarely played, lovingly cherished and maintained free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear.

The current voicing can be described as smooth and rich, with a classic full mid-60’s jazz tone. A strikingly handsome instrument in a distinguished lineage of ‘Matsumoko’ master built jazz guitars.

Setup: This instrument is strung with Thomastik – Infeld – Jazz BeBop medium gauge strings (.011-.047). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set with moderate relief and low playable action c 1.75mm(B) and c 1.25mm(T). The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
