I am offering a Fender American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster from 2022, the made in Corona, California (USA), luxury model of the 1951 vintage Telecaster with a solid resonant ash body, one-piece maple neck with 1951 “U” neck profile, fine maple fingerboard with black dot inlays, two wiry-hot Fender USA Pure Vintage ’51 Telecaster single-coil pickups, classic 3-piece string-through-body vintage bridge with brass saddles and high-quality Fender Pure Vintage Single Line Deluxe tuners in a radiant Butterscotch Blonde Nitro finish with black pickguard in mint condition incl. Fender G&G Tweed hardshell case, all manufacturer’s papers (incl. C.o.A.), case candy and professional setup with 10 gauge Ernie Ball strings.

Fender was in trouble at the end of the 1970s: quality had steadily declined in the previous years due to increased production figures. To counteract the downward trend, Fender returned to its old virtues at the beginning of the 1980s. From 1982, the “Vintage American Reissue” guitars were produced in the USA as they were once designed by Leo Fender. In addition to the increased quality standards in wood selection and production, the Vintage Reissue was again based on authentic body shaping and the hardware/pickups were based on the originals of the 1950/60s.

The fact that the American Vintage can still be found in the Fender range after all this time probably speaks for the great success of the series and its importance for Fender. With its vintage specifications, it is clearly positioned away from the always modern series models and only slightly below the Time Machine series from the Fender Custom Shop.

With its butterscotch finish, this 2022 Fender Tele is unmistakably based on the ’51 model, which is equipped with a fairly thick maple neck with a U-profile, a fingerboard radius of 7.25″ and vintage frets. Even the small details, such as the slotted screws characteristic of the time, were based on the old originals and so this is quite close to the original without overdoing it in the pursuit of authenticity.

Above all, Fender uses thin nitro lacquer for the Vintage Reissue, which, in contrast to the polyurethane lacquered standards, is not as resistant, but ages more authentically and beautifully. In addition, the thinly applied lacquer has a better vibration behavior, which is ultimately also reflected in the tone.

The two “American Vintage ’52 Tele Single-Coil Pickups” are of course quite vintage-oriented, but this should not be associated with a sound characteristic that is too high-pitched. The single coils are quite balanced and provide sufficient bass and mids.

A sound example of the model can be found at the end of the photo gallery.

The workmanship is extremely high quality, Custom Shop level, and anyone who holds the instrument in their hands will notice this immediately.
