$ 2782.31

I offer here a Gretsch G6119TG-62RW LTD Rosewood Tenny from 2021, a limited edition hollowbody guitar handmade at the Terada factories in Japan from the Gretsch Professional Collection series with a light Thinline Tenessee Rose design with painted f-holes (3.1kg total weight! ), arched top, back and sides made of laminated Rosewood, set maple neck with standard U-neck profile, bound ebony fingerboard with Neo Thumbnail Perloid inlays, two sonically hot TV Jones TV Classic humbuckers and Bigsby B6G tremolo tailpiece in a radiant natural high gloss finish with shiny gold hardware and Aged White bindings in excellent condition including Gretsch luxury hardshell case, certificate (CoA), all case candies and professional setup with 10 gauge Ernie Ball strings.

The road for Gretsch has not always been easy. After a heyday in the mid-1950s when Gretsch was very successful with models like the ‘White Falcon’ and the ‘G6120’, Fred Gretsch sold the company to Baldwin Pianos at the time of the big corporate takeovers in 1967. This marked the beginning of an ongoing decline, as the heroes of the time now preferred to play Strats, Teles or Les Pauls. In 1985, Fred W. Gretsch, a great-grandson of the company’s founder, bought back the name and the company started from scratch again. It took three years for Gretsch to start making guitars again, this time in Terada, Japan. This is also where this G6119TG-62RW-LTD was made.

The guitar’s construction is based on classic ingredients: a Thinline Tennessee Rose body made of Rosewood laminate with cutaway and painted-on F-holes, so there is no feedback even at high volumes. The set maple neck fits comfortably in the hand with its well-rounded “Standard U” profile and lets every lick come easily from the fingers when playing over the 22 frets of the rosewood fingerboard.

Two high-quality TV Jones TV Classic humbuckers are used as pickups, which excellently capture the woody resonance of the hollowbody construction with their lively dynamics and exceptionally wide frequency spectrum. The pickups thus deliver versatile vintage sounds with the direct response, brilliant treble range and guttural growl in the style of the legendary Filter’Trons for expressive guitar playing in the spectrum between country, blues and rock’n’roll. The Gretsch circuitry also provides additional tonal variability: in addition to separate volume controls for each pickup and the obligatory master volume on the lower cutaway, the guitar has a three-position tone switch for influencing the treble spectrum. Also on board is a standby switch that mutes the guitar if desired.

A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.

Playing-wise, the “U”-shaped maple neck combined with the short 625mm scale length, 42.9mm nut width and the thinline body result in fantastically smooth playability across all 22 Small Vintage frets.

Together with the Natural high gloss finish, under which the Rosewood grain elegantly stands out, and the gold hardware, the Gretsch retro style is successfully showcased and it doesn’t take long for the vibe of the rockabilly and country heroes of yesteryear to overwhelm you!
