This one is a road warrior and has the battle scars to prove it! The serial number is “80823507” which dates it to March 23, 1983. The bridge pickup is the original Shaw and has a 1983 date code. I was not able to pull the neck pickup because one of the mounting screws is stripped. All of the solder looks good on the pots and it should match the bridge pickup. The pots date to January 1983 (R137-8304). The Gibson Kahler style bridge is original and was an option you could get starting in ’83.
The body is in good condition overall, but has a lot of dings, scratches, worn areas and some damage from a sticker on the back. There are no cracks or repairs and nothing out of the ordinary for a vintage guitar.
The neck is straight and the frets show average to heavy wear. It’s in very good playing condition and has no major issues. The fretboard is clean and the back of the neck has some indents and wear, but no major dings or gouges. The headstock has small nicks around the edges and wear on the top, but no cracks, repairs or extra holes. The nut is 1.70″ wide, the neck measures 0.83″ thick at the 1st fret and 0.97″ thick at the 12th fret.
The electronics are original and in excellent working condition. The pickups measure 7.46 Ω (Bridge) and 7.51 Ω (Neck). Two of the knobs have been changed but they came off of a 1977 Les Paul and match up with the others nicely. One tuner was also changed – the five originals have the pop-out winders while the D tuner does not. You can easily put a winder tuner on in the future if you can find one.
It comes in the original case which has some general wear on the outside. Two of the latches have been replaced but they all work. The interior has no bad odors. It comes with the original tremolo bar also.
Actual weight is 10 lbs 15 oz.
Please note that I do not set up my guitars before mailing. I have played it and everything is great as far as I’m concerned, but you may need to change the strings, adjust the action or do other maintenance to get it to your preferences.
I list some of my items on both eBay and Reverb. In the event that this item sells on both marketplaces before I can take the other listing down, I will honor the first sale and refund the second. There will be no exceptions to this!
$150.00 for UPS Ground. This is only an estimate on the high-end and will probably be less if you are close to the West Coast. I will refund any overcharge if there is any left over beyond the postage and packaging costs. I mail all of my guitars inside guitar boxes and pad with biodegradable peanuts. Local pickup and payment in cash are available, so feel free to contact me if you’re local and want to check it out.
I am a dealer and am not looking for any more gear for myself. I may not be able to offer much credit on a trade since I’m buying to re-sell. With that said, I will only consider in-person trades due to shipping costs and taxes. Please do not contact me for a trade unless we can meet in person.
I price my guitars as low as possible and don’t consider offers, so please do not ask for a lower price!
