Kramer NightSwan Japan 1988 MIJ

For Sale – Kramer NightSwan made in Japan in 1988.

Created by legendary luthier Buddy Blaze, the Kramer NightSwan was what ultimately became Vivian Campbell’s signature guitar. As the flagship of Kramer’s repertoire, it sat alongside models such as the StageMaster, Sambora & ProAxe within the ‘American Series’.  Blaze Aimed to replicate a similar scale length as the Les Paul, while adopting the newer superstrat shape. He also installed a very narrow R1 nut on a compound radius ebony fretboard (a first for a ‘shred’ guitar). A unique HH configuration of a bridge and middle humbuckers also set it apart from other brands, providing an individual sound with a quirky aesthetic. The Kramers intended for the Japanese domestic market also featured hardware and finish options differing from their ‘American’ counterparts.

  • Reverse banana headstock
  • Ping-pong inlay design
  • Original Floyd Rose
  • Original lightning graphic finish
  • Contrasting gold Gotoh hardware
  • Super low action with a gorgeous striped ebony fretboard
  • Classic combination of high-output pickups
  • One-of-a-kind custom 3-piece replacement neck by VinceMichaelGuitars
  • New Gotoh SG381 tuners and genuine gold Schaller R1 nut

This particular example was manufactured in Japan (by ESP) in 1988 and is far from standard. The original lightning graphic finish is in excellent condition showing very few marks or blemishes. The pickups have been upgraded as a nod to the originals – a Seymour Duncan Full Shred in the bridge and JB in the middle. These both sound fantastic with the Full Shred sounding incredible under high gain. Contrasting gold Gotoh hardware was also added. The replaced hardware (a new set of expensive EMG’s with an additional tone pot and the original black Floyd Rose bridge and nut) is included in the sale.

The original neck was absent at the point of acquisition, but a replacement was made by Vince Michael -a reputable luthier in Kramer circles. The super slim 3-piece construction has a beautiful satin finish and features a very desirable grain pattern.

The neckplate is original to the body hence no F serial.
