Here is what Jackson says about the X Series Arch Top SLAT8 MS:
Shred in ergonomic comfort and style with the Jackson X Series Soloist Archtop SLAT8 MS. A high-performance evolution of the electric guitar, this 8-string multi-scale model unlocks the possibilities of an instrument by accommodating two scale lengths on one fingerboard, thus improving overall playing comfort, tension and intonation.
The SLAT8 MS features an arched top basswood body with a one-piece maple neck and scarf joint reinforced with two graphite rods for maximum neck stability, 12″-16″ compound radius rosewood fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets, single-ply bound neck and Jackson 4×4 AT1 headstock with Jackson die-cast tuners.
Chosen specifically for their complementary sound, a pair of modern EMG 909 humbucking pickups drives this guitar’s versatile sound, combining for highly balanced, flexible tone, with plenty of high output for pristine cleans and snarling distortion.
Single volume and tone controls shape the pickups’ output, which can be further refined with the three-way toggle switch for the precise voice required to bring your musical vision to life. To help improve intonation, the guitar has been equipped with Jackson designed individual bridge saddles, staggered to accommodate for the two scale lengths.

Why was this guitar sent to a refurbisher?
The refurbisher said there was a small finish blemish of “box burn” caused by shifting during shipping, I cannot find it.

FAQ, frequently asked questions
Why are instruments sent to a refurbisher? The instrument could be a discontinued model, have a finish imperfection, or need a minor repair.
Who refurbishes your instruments? All of my instruments come from the largest and best refurbisher in the country, where any issue found is corrected by a factory trained and authorized luthier.
Does a refurbished instrument have the manufacturer warranty? No, any instrument sent to a refurbisher, regardless of the reason it was sent there, no longer carries the manufacturer warranty.
Will I need to set up my instrument when I receive it? All of my instruments have been set-up before shipping, so most are ready to play out of the box. However some instruments may need a minor adjustment after shipping due to changes in temperature, humidity, and getting bumped around during shipping. Also some players like to set up a new guitar to their own personal preferences.
What identifies an instrument as being refurbished? Most refurbished instruments have a small used stamp on the back of the head stock and are issued a new serial number. This is to prevent an unethical dealer from concealing the fact that the instrument was sent to a refurbisher.
