This vintage Ibanez RS 225 is in fantastic condition, plays ultra smooth, and sounds amazing! The RS 225 was only made in 1984 and features a basswood body, birch top, a maple neck/board, and a gorgeous “Cosmic Blue” finish. It weighs approximately 7lbs 6oz and is one of the cleanest RS guitars I’ve seen.
All of the hardware and electronics appear to be original and operate as intended. This one is from my personal collection of the “best of the best” and is the best playing and sounding 225 of the few I’ve owned. These old-school made in Japan Roadstars are true sleeper axes and are an incredible value for the money. Those who know, know.
I’ve owned and played Ibanez guitars from every era and I can confidently say that those from the late 70s to mid 80s are by far the best. It seems like each one I’ve had is super resonant, sounds huge, and plays like a dream. This specimen is no exception. It has tons of mojo, has an “old wood” feel, and produces a very full, balanced tone.
Overall, this specimen is in fantastic condition for its age. As with most gloss, dark finish guitars, there are pick-like swirls and marks on the body, but the majority of these are in the strumming area. Also, there is a very small amount of fret wear (barely visible) and a couple of dings on the back and the headstock. But, none of these imperfections impact playability at all. I’ve tried to document these small blemishes in the last 4 pics.
The original Ibanez hard shell case and trem bar will be included with purchase. The case has a couple dings and light wear in a few places, but overall it is quite clean and of the latches work properly. Lastly, this instrument will be expertly packed with plenty of bracing and soft filler material to ensure safe transport to its new home.
