Roadstars have distinct and unique character. Doesn’t feel like any other guitar I’ve played before…it’s got its own thing going on.
Part of that I think is that Roadstars also have (imho) exceptional playability. The gloss doesn’t hinder sliding around neck at all, which still surprises me. Darn good for blues & rock.
Has a few nicks/dents in the outer coat (shown in photos). But still looks pretty cool and plays great, even with some neck wear too. Dot Inlays in the neck. Can coil split the humbucker for a faux-‘single coil’ sound. Just got a Silver Sky a few months ago and I find I’m playing it a lot more than this Roadstar for ‘strat-style’ music, so want to offer to someone who’d play it more often because I feel like I’m doing a disservice to this guitar for not picking it up more.
The EMG Select is a bit screechy for my liking. I like to roll the tone off and play a sort of ‘scooped highs and mids’ sound (and don’t play much rock anymore, too, and I haven’t figured out how to get it sound like I want in a jazz/soul context).
