1982 Ibanez GB10 NT George Benson signature model
I bought this ’82 GB10 new in 1983. I had it re-fretted by a professional luthier in 2024, so it plays as wonderfully as it ever has. All other components are original, including the floating humbuckers. The diversity of this guitar allows you to shift from Jazz to Blues to Rock. I’ve used it both live and in the studio.
I have treated it with great care for the 41 years that I’ve owned and played it. As you might expect, this 41-year old guitar has a few minor cosmetic dings and marks in the finish, but it still looks fantastic. Structurally it is in great shape. There is a barely perceptible crack in the varnish on the front (depending on how the light hits it), but it is NOT in the wood. There’s also a little ding on the back of the neck, but it does not interfere with play.
If the guitar is NOT plugged in, you can hear a very slight buzz (when you’re practicing), but it does not come through when it’s amplified, either live or in studio. I had the luthier check it out (when I had the frets re-done), and it’s inconsequential.
It’s in the original hard case, which is a bit marked and dinged up, but it still does the job. The buckles can be a little stubborn, but it’s easier if you open them in a certain order. LOL
