Uncompromising 7-string Performance

Steve Vai’s Universe launched the 7-string solidbody electric guitar revolution, but it was Korn’s 1994 debut album that took it to the people. Factory down-tuned a full step, Korn axeman James “Munky” Shaffer’s signature Ibanez APEX200 means business. Your fingers will fly on the lightning-fast 5-piece maple/wenge neck, and the contoured alder body is so lightweight and comfortable, you’ll want to shred all night. Two DiMarzio Blaze pickups put a gargantuan tone arsenal under your command, while a U-bar-equipped Lo-Pro bridge gives you a whole new way to whammy. Bottom line? Ibanez’s APEX200 Munky Signature is a killer guitar.

Your fingers will fly on this super-fast APEX 5-piece maple neck

One of Ibanez’s fastest necks, the maple/wenge 5-piece on the APEX200 gives your fingers unimpeachable flyover rights. This slim and super-comfortable neck lets you pull off lighting-fast runs and arpeggios with ease, but still gives you the substance you need for fretting chords. From the first time you wrap your hand around the this neck, you’ll know you’ve got a 7-string guitar that was built for no-holds-barred performance.

It doesn’t get more metal than a killer set of DiMarzio pickups

The Ibanez APEX200 is fitted with two passive DiMarzio Blaze pickups that will take your tone to a whole new level. Featuring a single-coil in the neck position and a humbucker at the bridge, this set lets you deploy everything from spanky cleans to full shred, with a massive dynamic range many modern metal guitars can’t manage. At Redone, we really like this setup, and we think you will, too.

U-bar-equipped Lo-Pro bridge gives you a whole new way to whammy

Love palm muting and your whammy bar, too? You’ve undoubtedly noticed it’s hard to do both at the same time! Until now. Ibanez’s innovative U-bar-equipped Lo-Pro bridge includes two arm holders, one on either side, which the U-bar fits into. This allows you to actuate vibrato by “palming” the U-bar – and you can apply palm muting at the same time, should you so desire. If this seems a bit strange, take it from us, once you become used to it, applying vibrato this way is actually less disruptive to your playing than using a conventional whammy arm.
