This is a “chambered solid body” guitar, relatively light weighing about 7 1/2 lbs. Some have called this model a semi-hollow body. It’s a “player’s” instrument, designed for working musicians and it really fits that purpose. It has a flamed maple cap on top of a mahogany body, set neck, and a comfortable balance. The pickups are really good, TV Jones Filtertrons that are hotter than the normal TV Jones rendition. These guitars were only made between 2001 and 2003. When Fender took over Gretsch in 2003, this model was dropped. Gretsch manufactured these in Japan and the build quality is really good. Biggest knock on these p/u’s from the Gibson guys who say they sound a little too “Filtertron-ish” and the Gretsch guys who say they sound too “Gibson humbucker-ish”. Translated, that means, they’ll sound like both ends of the spectrum and anything in between. Guitar is well used as evidenced by the scratches and wear. I had it completely gone through by my amp technician (also works on guitars). He regularly does work for Rick Nielson (Cheap Trick) and other professional level guitarists, so, yeah….electronics and set up is done right. (I can give you his Instagram site if you’re interested, as he posts some really cool projects.) Guitar comes with the original hard shell case which has one replaced latch that doesn’t match the rest, but works fine. Tuners, bridge, hardware all look original. There’s plenty of nicks and scratches and playing wear, but no sign of major defects or serious repairs. This Gretsch is just a “well used” guitar, in good playing condition, properly set up, that has been regularly played to entertain a lot of folks, because that’s what it was made to do. Check out the pics and ask questions because there are no returns or partial refunds. I encourage you to invest the effort to research this model of Gretsch. If you’re looking for a very versatile guitar that won’t break the bank, this might be you’re ticket. There are places that I would hesitate bringing some of my more expensive guitars. But this Gretsch is probably not going to get stolen and who cares if it gets another scratch? Best of all, it sounds and plays as good as those “high-buck” collector-grade guitars. Thanks for you’re interest and may God bless.
