1967 Gretsch Viking Guitar Project-Husk for Repair-Restoration 1960’s Vintage

$ 575.00

This listing is for a 1967 Gretsch Viking Guitar Body-Husk. As you can see this listing is just for the body-husk with no additional parts. The body is in very poor condition and has many significant issues, specifically binding rot, routes and many other issues. I will do my best to give a thorough run down of any issues I am aware of but without the parts it’s very hard to know everything that will be required to complete a restoration of the guitar.
The guitar was made in the USA in 1967 and is missing nearly all its parts. The guitar comes as pictured and only included the Viking plate on the headstock and some of the original mute system is still inside th guitar but that is about it.
The most significant issues you can see right away are the binding is in very poor condition. This is a common issue on some old Gretsch guitars, sometimes called binding rot. The binding will pretty much need to be completely replaced on the whole guitar.
The pickup cavities are in poor shape and appear to have been modified and enlarged-especially the neck pickup cavity. The fretboard shows lots of chipping around the frets and some evidence of past neck resets and glue-holes in the fretboard-see pics.
In additional to the binding issues the guitar shows very heavy play wear and cosmetic wear such as nicks, dings and paint chips and just very heavy wear.
I’m really not sure about the neck and neck angle since I don’t have parts and haven’t ever had strings on the guitar. It is safe to assume it will likely need everything unto and including refret & neck reset.
The guitar is being sold as a project for someone looking to restore or customize a Vintage Gretch guitar.

The guitar comes with a used gig bag and will be expertly packed for safe shipping..
