What have we here? None other than Tommy Shaw’s CS-356!

As longtime member of the world-renowned band STYX, Tommy is one of the founding fathers of ’70s classic rock! Get your blue collar man on with this blue finished Gibson!

Tommy is well-known for playing Gibson, and this is a rare opportunity to own his very own wepon of choice.

So, what exactly is a CS-356 you ask? It is essentially an ES-355 that has been shrunken down to the size of an ES-339 – which is very simuilar in size to other Gibson solidbodies such as the Les Paul and SG – and then it has been given the upscale appointments and “tuxedo” look of a Les Paul Custom, with its glossy black ebony finish, gold hardware, multi-ply bindings, ebony fretboard, MOP block inlays, and Split-Diamond headstock embelm. Additionally, it is constructed like a Les Paul – it starts out with a solid mahogany body which is then carved up to have a carved back and chambers within the body, and it is topped with a carved maple top. This is technically superior to the construction of a typical ES instrument because it uses all solid woods instead of multi-layer laminant woods. Lastly, there is another model, the CS-336, that is simular in body construction, yet it takes its inspiration from the 335 instead of the 355, so it has a rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, the crown embelm, and some other differences. The CS-356 is the “upscale” model of the two. The CS-356 is the one you want … and this perticular one is not only celebrity owned, but also one of the rare transparent blue versions as well! And a KILLER FLAME TOP!!! FLAMED EBONY FRETBOARD!!!

Condition is “Good”. As you’d expect from an instrument that has been toured around the world, there are many signs of use although it presents cleanly from a couple feet away as the finish is very glossy and shiny. The original vibrant blue hue of the finish has faded due to use and exposure to light, as is typical with blue finishes. It now appears a dark blue, almost a trans black. There are numerous dings/impressions/buckle worming/wear/hardware tarnishing throughout. Includes original hardshell case and COA.
