In 1959, Gibson updated the Les Paul Junior with the double cutaway body outline, but the single cutaway body style lived on in the newly introduced Melody Maker model. The first version of the Melody Maker is the closest thing to a Les Paul Junior with the larger wide pickup in the bridge position and singlecut body. This first year Melody Maker remains factory original in exceptionally clean condition.
Classic 1959 features include the ink stamped serial number starting with 9, Sprague bumblebee capacitor, Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, original wraparound tailpiece and brown alligator chipboard case. The electronics are original and the original wide bridge pickup measures 6.97k Ohms. The original frets are in great shape, with only light fingerboard wear in the first position. The photos highlight a few scattered chips and scratches, and one tuner stem is a little bent. The case has some wear and tear with a seam split and one missing hinge. This Melody Maker represents a great chance to own an all original 1959 Gibson solidbody electric guitar.
