Gibson Melody Maker 1964 – 1965 – Cherry Red

$ 1275.00

Great sounding 1965 Gibson Cherry Red Melody Maker with a Single Pickup. Replacement Grover tuners, original compensated bridge/tailpiece with TonePro locking studs, original pickguard, original strap buttons but one is broken. Mahogany body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard. A very lightweight (5 lb 15oz) and resonant guitar. The original pickup was modified to be more like a P90 (as I recall this was achieved by removing the center metal bar and installing a new bar on the bottom of the pickup). The pickup now sounds stronger and fuller than it used to. This guitar originally came with the tremolo tailpiece but it was gone a long time before I purchased it. What remains are three filled holes on the front of the guitar where it used to be mounted. There is a chip out of the nut by the high E string but it has not been a problem for me. There are also a number of finish scratches and blemishes from a much loved instrument. I had it professionally set up about 10 years ago and it still plays great. Includes a padded Gibson gig bag with green plush interior made by TKL. New strings were just put on the guitar. Please see photos for exact condition.
