Gibson Les Paul Junior Special with Humbuckers 2012 Gloss Heritage Cherry

$ 949.00

This listing is for my 2012 Gibson Les Paul Junior Special. This guitar includes a SKB TSA-approved hardshell flight case ($230 value) plus all case candy from new, including the cellophane pick guard protector, Gibson strings tag, owner’s manual, warranty pamphlet, quality control inspection checklist, truss rod tool and case keys. I’ve owned this guitar since 2015 after buying it from a friend. It weighs 8 pounds on the nose on my shipping scale and includes strap-lock style strap buttons (I can replace with standard if you wish, just ask).

This guitar has its original Gibson 490T/R pickups with vintage-style leads and is fully hand-wired with two volume and two tone controls. Some LPJ Specials around this era used a printed circuit board (PCB) and only one tone control (three total knobs), but this is the full-fat 4-knob version (and I replaced the stock black all-black knobs with these ’60s style items (originals not included). Check out the cool smiley face a Gibson employee drew in the neck pickup cavity. That’s gotta be a good sign!

The finish is a beautiful and deep gloss heritage cherry, not satin, and 2012 is the only year these received the slim-taper ’60s style neck with binding. This guitar really plays like a dream, fast and comfortable all the way up and down the neck. Very little fret wear is present and the toasted maple fingerboard is clean feels like new.

There are two small dings on the upper bout of this guitar that were there when I got it — it must have been knocked into something. Please see the photos for details. There are also a few minor scratches and other wear that doesn’t go through the finish. I do have two brand new Gibson nickel pickup covers if you’d like to cover the open pickups — included for free with a full price purchase only.

I have just restrung this guitar with fresh 10-46 Ernie Ball Slinky strings and it plays beautifully. I’m only selling to trim down the collection a little (I’m over my self-imposed 12-guitar limit) and will be sad to see this one go after so many years. U.S sales only, please. Any questions, just ask!
