Gibson Les Paul Deluxe 1974 – Tobacco Sunburst

$ 4200.00

1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe

In good original condition, this guitar is a 50 year old hard rock survivor. It’s a beast at 10 lbs (the only reason I’m selling it) but the girth and heft adds to this guitar’s amazing tone and sustain.

The beautiful tobacco sunburst finish is vibrant and stunning, and trust me, this one looks good on stage – and it has seen many, Beautiful rosewood fretboard is rich and warm, frets were replaced a decade ago and have lots of life left. Mother of Pearl headstock logo is stunning.

The tone and playability is second to none, with sweet LP chime or monster growl when cranked. It’s an animal, stage ready, recently set up and primed to rock.

Tuners were swapped out out a while ago for Grover Deluxe as the old one became loosey goosey (don’t have them). Truss rod cover is original and chipped at the upper hole, sits on the guitar fine. Old tuner holes were expertly filled and finished. Stop tailpiece and knobs also replaced. Tune-o-matic bridge is original, pickups are original, not sure as to the pots (can’t read the codes), but I seem to remember that they were old replacements.

The guitar has typical wear for a 50 year old, and is fairly beat in a beauteous way (see all pix). Lots of finish checking, dings and dents, scrapes and scratches – but looks better than a $8000 Murphy Lab.!

The neck is straight and solid, truss rod adjusts fine, and the relief is good. No fretting out, no dead spots. No cracks, breaks or repairs that I can determine. I am not the original owner, so don’t know the full history of the guitar, but here is some finish checking at the top back of the neck and some faint lines on the face of the headstock (impossible to photograph), but blacklight seems to show no changes to the original finish.

I’m not an expert, and it’s old as-is and as described, so ask any relevant questions before you pull the trigger and I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability.

OHSC is in decent condition, most of the latches work.

Thanks for looking. Open to offers and looking for a lighter (7-8 lbs) Les Paul and willing to make a deal.
