1951 Gibson ES-175 Serial no.7551
Here’s your chance to own a solid player’s 50’s gibson hollowbody.
Known replacement parts – Lollar low wind P-90 pickup, and the pickguard.
Pots and other wiring is original. Tailpiece, bridge and tuning machines are either original or at least period correct. At some point in the past, the back of the neck was refinished from the heel to just below where the tuners start. It’s not the prettiest work and I’m not sure why it was done, there is no evidence of a headstock break, I assume the neck was maybe slightly reshaped although the profile does not feel thin or modified. Besides the back of the neck, the finish on the rest of the guitar is untouched other than minor scuffs, dings, and checking.
The playability is great, the frets have been recently leveled and dressed, and the action sits at a comfortable 5/64″ measured off the 12th fret to the bottom of the E strings. Very slight neck relief, and plenty of room on the bridge and a well functioning truss rod.
Will be very carefully packed and shipped in a vintage arched hardshell case.
