Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Sunrise Orange 1991

The Chet Atkins Country Gentlemen was manufactured between 1986 and 2005, after Atkins parted ways with Gretsch. Essentially a mash-up of the Gretsch CG and an ES style Gibson, this guitar features a 17 inch wide, thinline semi-hollow flame maple laminate body with a maple center block, and a single venetian cutaway. The C shaped 3 piece maple neck with nicely rolled edges and a 1 3/4″ nut to facilitate fingerstyle techniques comes fitted with an ebony fretboard and singular red thumbnail style inlays.

Unique to this model, a low output 492R neck pickup compliments a slightly hot 490T PAF style pickup in the bridge position resulting in a unique sonic character that is authoritive, fat, clear and warm. Controls consist of a 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume knobs, a master tone and a master volume. The electronics assembly remains original.

The hardware is comprised of Gibson-branded Schaller “speed winder” tuning pegs, an abr-1 bridge with a rosewood base and a B6 bigsby vibrato. It should be noted that this guitar is missing the original forearm guard but the matching feaux tortoise shell pickguard remains in place.

Cosmetically the guitar features dings, scratches and dents and corrosion to the mettalics throughout with a crack in the finish where the neck joins the body that is structurally sound. There is also significant wear to the neck finish with some rough patches on the back toward the upper frets and some additional wear to the finish around the upper strap button.

A player then, but functioning as it should after recieving our expert fret level, crown & polish along with being set up with low action and accurate intonation for optimal performance.

Comes with the original hardcase which has some lining damage and a broken strap, but is otherwise functional. There is no COA or other documentation available.
