Here’s a 1973 Fender Mustang in Competition Blue finish. Still in very good condition for a nearly 50-year-old guitar! Everything is original, with the exception of the pickups, which are Seymour Duncan Custom Shop Mustang pickups. Fantastic playing & sounding guitar! Very resonant & loud unplugged. You definitely get an understanding of why Kurt Cobain loved these older Mustangs.
It plays like absolute butter, with low action down the neck. The frets have life left as well. The guitar sounds so so good plugged in. The best way to describe the pickups, is how Seymour Duncan puts it: “they deliver a tone that is springy and almost bouncy like a Strat, but with a honkier midrange quality, and just the right amount of harmonic sparkle.” Killer all around Mustang. HSC included.
I tried to photograph all major cosmetic imperfections. Please be sure to take a look. There are also some minor, smaller scratches here and there, but I wasn’t able to capture them because they’re so faint.
