Fender Jazzmaster 1958 – Sunburst – Refinished

$ 15000.00

Up for sale we have a 1958 Fender Jazzmaster in refinished 3-tone Sunburst with original hang tag, aluminum case tag and tweed hardshell case. An absolutely fantastic playing and sounding example of a first-year Jazzmaster featuring all of the hallmarks unique to the 1958 model. The guitar is in very good overall condition showing only light cosmetic wear throughout and sporting the aforementioned refinished body, shot in thin nitrocellulose lacquer, expertly done by professional guitar builder Joe Riggio of Riggio Guitars. The original finish under the pickguard and in the neck pocket were preserved retaining the original 11-58 grease pencil body date beneath the bridge pickup and color matched to achieve a seamless color match. The backside of the neck was also refinished by Riggio and given his trademark “Real deal feel” treatment giving the neck a very comfortable worn-in look and feel. The whole instrument (where new finish was applied) was lightlyand tastefully aged to match the original components of the instrument. The face of the headstock retains its original clear lacquer as well as its original decal. Outside of that the only other repairs done to the guitar were the neck pickup was rewound to spec, sounds killer! And the neck was re-fretted with original vintage Fender size fret wire. This Jazzmaster features a 25 1/2″ scale length, solid 2-piece Alder body, gold anodized aluminum pickguard, equipped with it’s original pair of wide bobbin Jazzmaster single coil pickups with master volume and tone controls, the pots date to the 43rd week of 1958 and the 41st week of 1956 (not uncommon to see ’58 models with ’56 pots) 3-way pickup selector switch with original Catalin Amber switch tip, vibrato tailpiece and rocking bridge with six adjustable saddles, single bend trem arm (unique to ’58 models), Hard Rock Maple neck dated to November 1958 (11-58), 21-fret Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlaid fret markers, 7 1/4″ fingerboard radius and Kluson Deluxe tuning machines. The neck has a very comfortable round “C” shape profile measuring .780″ deep at the first fret and .990″ deep at the twelfth fret. Width at the nut measures 1 5/8″. The truss rod is accessible at the heel of the neck and functions as it should. The guitar weighs in at 7 lbs. 14.5 oz. Will be properly packed with care prior to shipment. In-store trades only. Thanks for looking.
