A Fender Japan ST72-55 OWH/R, the 55 referring to the original retail price of 55,000 Yen in 1985 when this guitar was manufactured.
In keeping with its 72 model designation, the maple neck sports a large headstock with a bold Stratocaster logo, convenient “bullet” truss rod access above the nut and 3-bolt attachment to the body complete with micro tilt adjustment hole. The neck profile is a comfortable oval that is flatter than usual for this era and the rosewood board is wonderfully dark, sadly a rarity in many contemporary builds. The basswood body is equipped with a 3-ply black pick guard, three ST pickups of domestic manufacture, and the common 5-way switching with one volume / two tone knob output configuration.
All hardware and electronics are original to the instrument and function as they should as does the truss rod which is fully adjustable. Cosmetically the guitar is in very presentable condition with only some very mild corrosion to the hardware in places and fine scratches to the pick guard being the only indication it has been played at all over the past 37 years.
While the accompanying gig bag is a replacement the guitar comes with original paper work such as warranty & registration, inspection tags and even the original string packaging, sans the actual strings.
