Fender Japan Limited Edition MIJ Strat | Upgraded Pickups, PLEK, HSC

Per Fender Consumer Relations only 41 of these were produced, and the build and specs are srsly astonishing. I’ve never seen a strat like this from US Fender production nor custom.

Featuring a two-piece ash body with a custom translucent lacquer finish, 9.5″ radius modern C lacquer satin-finish maple & walnut neck, with a rosewood fretboard and narrow tall frets that were PLEK’d by Fender during production; bone nut and locking vintage tuners.

These are waaay above anything in current MIJ and most US production, so I’m pricing it accordingly.

There’s one tiny ding (1 mm) and a surface scratch next to it (see photos) on the side of the arm contour, otherwise its just surface swirls on the body.

I had the stock pickups professionally swapped out* for a Dimarzio PAF 59 humbucker at the bridge and a pair of Seymour Duncan 5-2 singlecoils in the middle & neck position. The ’59 Dimarzio balances very well with the SD 5-2’s. The Dimarzio is vintage output but breaks up spectacularly with rich overtones and cleans up very nicely as well. The SD 5-2’s have alnico 5 magnets under the lower/thicker 3 strings (low E, A & D) and alnico 2 magnets under the top/lighter 3 strings (G, B & high E), this yields smooth, shimmering highs and a tight, percussive low end.

(*the stock pickup set consists of two Fender US Custom ’69 singlecoil pickups in the neck & middle position, and a Shawbucker in the bridge. A full setup was completed with the pickup swap.)

Local pickup only due to lacquer finish on the body, I don’t want to risk laquer finish checking due to the cold weather
