1963 Fender Duosonic w/ 2009 Warmoth 24″scale Maple neck Rosewood Fretboard, Qtuner Neodymium pickups

$ 875.00

Are you Experienced? Jimi Hendrix played his Duosonic up side down in 1964 with the Isley brothers, before someone stole it. For $875 plus shipping this older & wiser Duosonic has what a brand new Fender Player Duo-Sonic at the big box store for $799.99, doesn’t.

1963 Fender Duosonic, Alder body, paint stripped (vintage red paint remains in electronic routing cavities), Warmoth 2009 Neck, Rosewood Fretboard, side dot markers, Matched middle & bridge single coil Qtuner, GS neodymium pickups by Erno Zwaan (the world’s first) sport clear plastic with bright red plastic encased on sides. (The 3rd pickup of this GS set is in a friend’s 1962 Musicmaster & not for sale). Brass 3-barrel bridge, knobs, pots & Gotoh tuning machines, Squier neck plate, all assembled for me by Aaron Andrews in Seattle 2009. The Warmouth thin neck has clear satin finish, partial flamed maple , 24″ scale, Compound radius 10″-16″, Indian Rosewood fretboard. Side Dot Markers only. The front of the mint pickguard is now tan after 15 years of aging. Weight is approximately 6lbs 14.4oz (not sure how accurate my scale is). This is my first listing on Reverb, to gage what the interest is. And whether it is worth more selling parts separately. Please message me if you are interested in the guitar at a lower price or just specific parts. I am leaving the offers turned off for now. The Qtuner pickups are exceptionally rare & no longer made. I got them after hearing Henry Kaiser playing a Stratocaster with them (see the attached video link of Henry playing Q-tuner pickups with renowned amp genius Alexander Dumble). The Q-tuner.com site’s Demos page also has a youtube link to Tobin Abasi playing an 8 string guitar with humbucker versions. I can throw in 2 additional pickguards (one white & one black). There is no case. Though I can ship a loose fitting road-runner sturdy gig back in great condition for additional cost. I will include the Warmouth turtle decal if you want to add it to the headstock. As the pictures show, the body has a lot of wear, grunge dings, scratches. gouges, and tear out in many areas. It has kind of a matte natural finish. This can be sanded, filled & refinished in a solid color or left with the character of the “patina” of 61 years so many relics seek to imitate. The neck & frets are in good shape. It has the Gotoh side “fine tune” truss rod. For larger adjustments the truss rod can also be adjusted from the butt end, by removing the neck from the guitar. Listing this as Good condition due to the age of the body & One issue I have noticed while playing it lately is that the high E string sometimes has some drop out in volume due to being close to the edge of the pickups. This can likely be corrected with adjustment of the pole pieces, bridge or bridge with 6 individual saddles. Please ask all questions before buying. The guitar is offered for sale as is , unless we negotiate some additional work at this end BEFORE you buy it. I will only ship to the 48 continental states in the US of A. Please do not buy this without a shipping address in those 48 states. Thank you!!!
