While Dean guitars is not a driving force in contemporary music, they had their heyday in the early 2000’s with a number of high profile endorsees, mostly in the hard rock and heavy metal genres. Along the way Dean has produced some very nice guitars, and this 2008 Korean-made EVO Special is a great example. Essentially their version of a LP-style guitar, the dimensions, scale length and general layout will surprise no one. What is surprising is the elegant quilted maple top, light weight Mahogany body, nicely sculpted neck heel, and overall excellent fit and finish. The fretwork is very good, there is no fret wear, and it sets up and plays as well as guitars costing many times more from Nashville. It’s a great example of how good Korean-made guitars have always been. The guitar needs nothing, but is also a great platform for upgraded electronics. A genuine sleeper single cut.
This guitar is in excellent condition with signs of normal handling, slightly tarnished hardware, but no chips, dings, deep scratches or dents. No fret wear to speak of, and electronics are fully functional.
