You’re looking at a solid example of a rather wrongly overlooked 90s japanese-crafted Charvel, the model CX290.
Can’t claim to be a Charvel expert but it looks like the CX290 could very well fit in as the smaller sister to the ST Custom and SoCal style Strats, minus the outrageous price tag…
Materials, fit& finish and playability are outstanding.
There’s little information regarding the pickups, but I’ll say they’re reasonably usable for broad Rock applications. An easy improvement area where you can drop your favorite HSS combo
Fret wise, shows common wear in the Cowboy chords area but there’s still plenty of life on those jumbo frets.
The Neck is a Classic combination of Rosewood over a hard Maple neck, with a flat fretboard (Spec sheet read 20″ radius, feels to me more like a 16 incher)
Neck profile is a comfortable Shallow C (I’d dare to say, pretty typical for Charvel’s and Jackson’s)
This guitar has no strange noises, no fret buzz and no dead spots to speak of.
You’re getting an awesome Charvel Strat in a light Dinky body, top quality Gotoh tuners, comfortable chunky Jumbo Frets, increasingly harder to find in good condition.
Bear in mind this is a used guitar and presents normal wear and common blemishes, please refer to the photos and hit me up with any questions you may have.
