1990 Charvel by Jackson Archtop Dinky DKA-110-HH Cherry Sunburst, Japan

$ 1599.99

Up for sale, a 1990 Charvel by Jackson Archtop Dinky model DKA-110-HH in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag. Made at the Chushin factory in Japan, and sold exclusively in the Japanese domestic market, this upper-tiered Dinky is finely crafted and built to shred. The body sports a carved top and additional contouring in the cutaways and at the neck heel for optimal comfort and playability.

Essentially an upgraded spin on the 3A platform, this Archtop Dinky features a sen ash body, quartersawn rock maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard. The bridge pickup is a Jackson J80 high-output, distortion class humbucker with an accentuated low frequency response, while the neck is a medium output J50 humbucker that produces a full, natural sound with great definition. Both pickups take gain notably well for crunchy chords and white-hot leads. Weighing 7lbs 8oz, this Charvel has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The quartersawn rock maple neck has a very slender D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register, measuring .735” deep at the 1st fret and .845” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a compound 12”-16” radius, pearloid sharkfin inlay, and flawless stock jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width, holding pitch against the deepest of tremolo dive bombs. On the headstock, the Jackson-branded tuning machines turn smoothly.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the Jackson-branded humbuckers wired to the stock harness with full-size Japanese pots dating to January, 1990, governed by Master Volume and Tone knobs with a three-way pickup selector switch. The Charvel-branded Floyd Rose-style FLC-202 tremolo was crafted by Schaller, actuating smoothly and snapping quickly back to pitch, with a light dusting of surface patina on the black plating. The pair of dome-topped knurled knobs round out the hardware.

The gloss Deep Cherry Sunburst finish exhibits only two small chips at the treble-side waist and a handful of faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is pristine.

The original Charvel-branded padded gigbag is included.
