For your enjoyment I present my Gunslinger upgraded to the hilt! And this combination of parts is friggin’ primo! Sometimes you embark on a hotrodding experiment and it just coalesces into something magical, and this is one of those times.
A chronicle of my hotrodding-journey:
Decided to go with a chrome aesthetic as the black hardware wasn’t doing it for me. left the black nut on it because it’s a custom-sized nut for OEMs. It does its job and with the hardened steel screws it still looks right with the rest of the motif so still managed to work out fine.
First major upgrade is the Schaller Lockmeister – it is a German-made Schaller-branded Floyd Rose Original. It was expensive, but f**k, do you get what you paid for! then I put a Genuine Floyd Rose Fat-Brass-Block on it; tone and sustain for days. Also swapped out the trembar for a FR pressure-fit bar (pictured), and put hardened steel bits where there were lesser ones. This is as about as good as it can friggin’ get when it comes to a floating/locking bridge setup as I have ever experienced!
Upgraded the internal tin trem-claw with a solid brass claw, mounted by brass-coloured hardened steel screws, and less-noisey (no springs are “noiseless” regardless of claims) coated springs.
I upgraded to matching chrome locking tuners – if you haven’t experience the ease of strings changes with locking tuners, you need to ’cause it’s a quality of life thing you can’t go back from.
I swapped out the dimarzio super-distortion for a slightly-overwound-P.A.F.-voiced humbucker that i.m.o. is a better tonal fit and improvement aesthetically as well.
Upgraded the pot to a new one with brass-fittings – still a push/pull coil split.
Put chrome schaller styled strap locks on to continue the chrome motif.
Lastly changed the knob to one with markings and placed a visual marker under it so you can see where you actually set it instead of guess-timating where you have it set.
It is now the gunslinger prophecy to end all gunslinger prophecies… at least I.M.H.O. that is.
Will be including a hardshell case with the purchase – will have some foam padding during shipping as pictured as there’s a little bit of room in the case otherwise, and wouldn’t want the guitar shifting in transit.
thanks for checking out my listing, and please feel free to peruse my other wares!
