A Legacy Reimagined: Yamaha “LL-55DR”

The YAMAHA “LL-55DR” has just arrived in our store. The “L Series” guitars are crafted with traditional techniques and structures, meeting and exceeding the demands of modern guitarists. They are built upon Yamaha’s long-standing tradition in acoustic instrument design.

This particular model, the “LL-55DR,” features the original jumbo body “LL” (body depth of 100-125mm). In the name, the first “L” stands for Luxury, while the second “L” signifies the Large body size.

Although the LL Series is now topped by the LL-86, this model has been discontinued. The “LL-55DR” carries the legacy of the “L Series,” known for models produced between the 1970s and 1980s, often referred to as the “Big four of the L Series.”

Specifications include a spruce top, rosewood sides and back, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. It boasts a high-class inlay suitable for a top-tier guitar. True to its heritage, it delivers a sound that is distinctly Yamaha, different from Martin or Gibson, showcasing the brand’s precise craftsmanship and tradition honed over many years.

Condition: Professionally cleaned and set up with new strings (D’Addario).

Neck is straight and the truss rod works with no issues. Remaining fret height is over 70 percent.

Although it has minor scratches and dings, the overall appearance is clean.

Comes with a hard shell case.

Action height at 12th fret: approx. 2.1mm (high E), 2.9mm (low E)
