I bought this Koa off the wall in December 1996, just after they came out, played 10 minutes and bought, could not believe the tone for the price. Serial number ends in 030, the 30th out of 700 I believe produced.
These were the 1st Taylor Koas made that were reasonably priced, as the others were high series, high price. So they put out this “no frills ” series to keep costs down (such as the satin finish) without sacrificing any of the quality solid wood sound.
Exceptional warm, rich Koa tone, these straight grain solid wood (which are just not around today) in my opinion, have better tone than the flame Koa you see today but the Flames are gorgeous for sure.
Near Mint, the 4th picture shows the only mark, a micro dig, really that’s it! Other wise no scratches, cracks, issues, warping whatsoever, anywhere. Minor wear on 1st few frets, yes I like cowboy songs, is why I give a near mint.
