This Martin OM-42 was finely handcrafted in the C.F. Martin factory in Nazareth, PA, and is one of the flagship models of the traditional manufacturer. This exquisite acoustic combines high-end details with the most tasteful design and its versatility makes it the perfect acoustic guitar for any musician, as it can be used for Blues, Folk and almost any other acoustic genre. The OM-42 has a classic Sitka spruce top that is more responsive than Adirondack tops found on other models. Sitka is far more articulate compared to Adirondack, which also makes the guitar perfect for recording purposes. Furthermore, the Sitka top is paired with an Indian rosewood body, which gives the guitar great and rich overtones. The OM has a longer scale length of 645 mm compared to the 000, which makes the sound a little tighter, louder and more brilliant. That’s why guitarists like Eric Clapton and John Mayer love this model! In addition, the string tension of the long scale length is appreciated, especially for dropped tunings, as well as the slightly more powerful character with a strong attack. In addition to the exclusive ’42 style with an enchanting gloss finish patinated with aging toner this acoustic features beautiful abalone inlays on the binding, rosette and ebony fingerboard, faux tortoise pickguard and gold-colored open gear tuners. These aesthetic details accompany the beautiful tonewoods in a very elegant way. The playability of the guitar is also first-class thanks to the super comfortable “Modified Low Oval” neck profile. The sound is extremely balanced with a very special depth and intimacy that immediately translates every nuance of attack. The sustain of this guitar is also above average and is particularly impressive when fingerpicking, as is the frequency spectrum. Visually, sonically and in terms of its excellent playing characteristics this Martin is convincing across the board. And to round off the whole thing perfectly the previous owner had a pickup from the proven L.R. Baggs brand installed, which means that the OM-42 can also be used on stage in the very best manner.
