1983 Martin D12-18 Serial #438798. Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood fingerboard. This is beautiful guitar with a couple of flaws. It looks to me that it saw very little use.
The frets are 99%. Action at the 12th fret is: high “E” .10; low “E” .13 . Action at the first fret is: high “E”: .04; low “E” .04. The action is tad high at the first fret, and I think that’s because this item was never properly set up. Action at the 12th fret is about where I like it, but there’s lots of room on the saddle to bring it down if that’s what you prefer.
Here are the issues:
1. There’s a four inch crack on the back caused by a sharp impact.
2. There’s an area of buckle rash on the back.
3. There’s a five inch scrape on the top along with some small dents. None of these are though the finish so a good guitar repair man could fill them
All in all, a beautIful instrument that is quite playable as is, but (as noted above) could do with a professional set up. Reason for selling: too many guitars.
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION AND LOOK AT THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY. This guitar is being sold “as described”. I’ll only accept a return if I have not described it correctly.
