The rare first year of the Martin D-42. This D-42 LE #26/75 (limited edition) is beyond compare and in virtually flawless and collectible condition. What makes this guitar so special? To begin with it contains the finest materials available at the time and is personally signed by Chris Martin IV himself. It is said the foreman also signed the underside of the top but I’ve not verified this. You can read about the history online. it’s a Super special piece. It’s the first year since the one made in 1937, that they brought back the D-42. As such, it uses D-45 inlay and D-41 hexagon inlay. It has gold tuners with ebony knobs and inlaid pins. The AAAV spruce top, ebony fretboard and East Indian Rosewood back and sides are as far as I can see, flawless. The neck profile is very low so it’s a dream to play. In the video below you can hear it and see it played. The guitar has been gone through and set up with new strings by The Amazing Nick formerly of Norman’s Rare Guitars. Bindings have been secured and the neck is perfect. I seem to recall some small scuff somewhere but I couldn’t find it. Comes with original case. Small dent on the case headstock end.
