Gibson J-45 Adj. 1957 [SN U2301 81] [05/24]

$ 13986.88

This is a late 50’s model J-45 with a one-ring, one-point large-guard, and the mainstay of the J-45. adjustable saddles became an option around ’56, while the fixed type became tighter and tighter dry sounding as it moved to a non-scalloped type, The adjustable saddle produces a unique sound that mixes the transparency of ceramics with a metallic sound. The internal construction of the original instrument is quite rough, but it has an unforgettable taste that can only be produced by this type of instrument. The exquisite sunburst gradation is also difficult to reproduce perfectly, and it is interesting to note the differences in appearance from year to year, from 56, 57, 58, to 59. The neck grip is also the same, with the 58 being the thickest, settling at 59, and becoming thinner toward 60. Both the gradation and the neck grip are a great match for this J-45, and it has the potential to satisfy those who are looking for a J-45 of this age.

The condition is as follows: the nut has been replaced, and there is a history of refretting. The saddle is a ceramic type with a recent coating, as close as possible to the first period ceramic saddle. There is a crack correction at the pickguard of the sound hole. It has been repaired with a large wood block patch from the back. There is a strap pin hole filled in at the top of the neck heel. There are no signs of touching the original finish, no other major damage, and the neck is in perfect condition. This is a vintage Gibson that looks and sounds full of color and is in excellent condition, and is one of those vintage Gibsons that you will be happy you found after searching and searching.
