A popular model that reproduces the vintage D-28, which unfortunately has been discontinued.
Martin / 2005 D-28 Marquis
“D-28 Marquis” appeared in 2004 following HD-28 and Golden Era.
The vintage D-28 from the 1930s is expressed in every detail, making it an attractive model that even acoustic guitar lovers who admire the original are worth owning for a lifetime.
The forward shift scalloped X bracing, butter bean open back tuner, and ivoroid cell binding give it a vintage-like feel that’s irresistible.
Specifications from 1934 to the latter half of 1934, when the 14th fret joint began.
Tony Rice is the most impressive D-28 player of my age. He used a 1935 D-28 as his favorite aircraft, and it is also famous that he inherited it from Clarence White.
The serial number “58957” is also used in the album title.
I wish I could play like that with a pre-war style D-28, a play that runs freely across the fingerboard.
The history of the D-28 itself proves that it is expected to play an active role not only in bluegrass but also in a wide range of music scenes such as rock, folk, and pop.
Among these, Prewar Style is the first page of history.
If you’ve been on the fence until now, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so please consider it once again.
[Condition/Impression]
The noticeable points are the buckle scratches and the strap pin attachment.
The torque on the pegs is stiff, but there is no problem with tuning.
As for other overall conditions, it remains in good condition considering its nearly 20 years of age.
We replace the frets/nuts after receiving the product, so you can enjoy the best performance.
There is no need to worry about maintenance for the time being, so please use it with confidence.
As for the sound, it has a quick rise and has a sexy midrange.
This is an excellent tone with volume and a sense of openness.
The neck is straight with no chatter or jammed sounds, and the string height above the 12th fret is set to a comfortable playing condition of 2.5mm on the 6th string side and 2.0mm on the 1st string side.
The amount of saddle protrusion is approximately 3mm-3.5mm.
