Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Stratocaster in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with a G&G tweed hardshell case. This Strat sports a bevy of upgrades and augmentations, including a replacement rosewood fingerboard and jumbo fretwire, early Fender American Standard pickups, modern CTS pots, and a gloss Yellow Sparkle refinish.
An ash body and maple neck round out the tonewood complement, and this Strat weighs 7lbs 15oz. The trio of early American Standard single coil pickups (ID’d via their wiring and the shape of the “016730” stamps in the molded plastic bobbins) deliver quintessential Strat sparkle and snap, with a sharper, more focused quality at the bridge, bell-like fullness and midrange cut at the neck, and hollow quack at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This vintage USA-made Fender Stratocaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
