Orville by Gibson Les Paul Junior – MIJ – 1988 – 2 Tone Burst
Orville by Gibson Les Paul Junior, made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market in 1988. Orville by Gibson was started in 1988 so this guitar was in their very first year of production in the Terada Gakki Factory.
The craftsmanship is beautiful.
For a vintage piece, it’s in great shape and it sounds amazing.
Professionally set-up, the action is sitting down nice and low. This combined with its light weight makes it super easy to play. Such a great guitar.
Weight: 3.1 kgs. Nice and light.
Mahogany body with 2-Tone Sunburst in a gloss finish. Tortoise shell pickguard. Mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. There’s a bit of fretware from the 1st to 9th fret over the top 3 stings. Bell truss rod cover. Chrome hardware. The stop-tail piece has been replaced with a tailpiece and Tune-O-Matic bridge set-up adding to its overall playability. Kluson style machine heads. Great design.
Iconic P-90 pickup with dog-ears gives it a beautiful rich, warm tone. Dials and electrics are working as they should.
Cosmetically, its as you would expect for a vintage 80s piece. A few dings and scratches on the top, sides, back and headstock. Nothing major or affecting any playability and in this case, definitely just adds to its character.
We think this guitar is a really special piece. It’s history, design, playability and tone make it one awesome little rockin’ machine.
Comes in gig-bag.
